I was at Biggby today and saw that, like most coffee shops, they sell bottled water. This is not a big deal, except that when I looked closer I realized that they manufacture their own brand of bottled water. I guess it reminded me that one of the ridiculous luxuries of living in the US or other first world/industrialized/westernized/(insert your favorite term for describing the situation here) nations is that the market is over saturated with dozens+ brands of bottled water to drink from whenever you are thirsty. Not to mention the fact that tap water is free, safe (in most parts of these countries) and also readily available. Companies who don't even need to manufacture bottled water do it anyway. While, in third world/developing/(whatever your favorite antonym of the word you chose above) countries people need iodine tablets or foreign volunteers implementing water purification projects to be able to drink water safely, on occasion. So to me this water bottle represents just one of the numerous disparities that exist throughout our world.
